About
Grandma Mommy
Like all or most of us, I didn’t plan on becoming a grandma mommy – I just turned seventy and was looking forward to a retirement filled with travel to exciting new places and the chance to do only what I wanted to do. But circumstances beyond my control brought me to this decision. Yet, now that I am raising my grandchildren, my life is immeasurably richer. Also, more challenging. Much more fatiguing. Sometimes I fight sadness, fear, and anxiety. I wanted to start this blog so that I could share my experiences, strengths, hopes, fears, and questions with all the other grandma mommies and daddies out there. Hopefully, we will help each other create a community that provides support, resources, and help as we face the joys and difficulties of raising grandchildren. I am writing this blog anonymously in order to protect the confidentiality of my family, friends, and acquaintances. So, I have changed the names of all people involved and kept specific locations unidentified. However, all the events, emotions, and thoughts are true. I hope that you will find something in here that will ring true to you, and I hope that you will share your own experiences, worries, triumphs, and wisdom. Please feel free to respond anonymously as well. I look forward to hearing from you and to building a supportive, caring community of grandparents raising grandchildren with love and humor.
“There is nothing more wonderful than the love and guidance a grandparent can give his or her grandchild.”
